Drs. Kevin M. Bell, PhD and Michael P. McClincy, MD were recently awarded with a Pitt Innovation Challenge (PInCh) prize for their work on developing CuffLink, a telehealth rehabilitation platform that combines the safety of mechanical motion exercise equipment with motion tracking and remote monitoring. CuffLink provides a solution for the nearly 530,000 annual surgical shoulder patients that often exhaust their insurance-allotted outpatient physical therapy visits. The added remote monitoring capabilities allow early rehabilitation to move home, saving outpatient PT visits for later in the recovery, when hands-on treatment is most valuable.
