AOSSM Research Grants Awarded

Congratulations to Dr. Jonathan D. Hughes, MD who was recently awarded the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Young Investigator Grant - Clinical Science for a collaborative study with Drs. Volker Musahl, Bill Anderst, Jay Irrgang and M. Enes Kayaalp in the Biodynamics Labratory. The study evaluates knee kinematics before and after a slope reducing osteotomy and revision ACL-R.

The AOSSM Steven P. Arnoczky Young Investigator Grant provides grants to support clinical and basic science research for early-career principal investigators. This grant opportunity aims to train early-career surgeons as principal investigators, perform the primary role in generating the hypothesis, design the experiment, carry it out, and interpret the results with the assistance of an experienced supervisor and/or investigative team.

The AOSSM Military Advanced Surgical Training (MAST) Program also recognized Dr. Andrew J. Sheean, MD for his study Defining the Impact of General Mental Health, Resilience, and Pain Catastrophizing on Return to Duty and Clinical Outcomes After ACL Reconstruction. Dr. Sheean was a previous University of Pittsburgh Sports Medicine fellow. Dr. Sheean is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).

Congratulations!
